Spring Break Shenanigans

I had to work for the majority of Spring Break, but took off Thursday-Sunday so I could be with my sweet fam.  We originally planned a trip to Amarillo that ended up being cancelled, then planned a day trip to Round Rock that we cancelled, so it's been a relatively quiet Spring Break for the Deweys - compared to previous Spring Breaks anyway.  Regardless of cancelled travel plans, time spent with Rossleigh is FAR from uneventful!  Ha ha!!
~~~
This little stinker figured out how to climb up on the couch.  She'd grunt and climb until she was able to get up - and Heaven forbid if you try to help her.  She has to do it all by herself, you know.  Well, if SHE reaches out for your hand to help, it's okay, but if I reach out first, you can fuhgetaboutit.  LOL  It was pretty funny seeing how proud she was of herself.
I've finally learned the trick to doing Rossleigh's hair - always have snacks on hand! Lately, the snacks have been some animal crackers that Nana gave us.  I tried a new 'do for Rossleigh on Thursday.  My mom used to do my hair like this and I always loved it.  I wasn't sure if R's hair was long enough to do it, and while it needs to be a little longer to STAY this way, it stayed long enough to take this pic and for about 5 minutes of wrestling with Bean.  LOL
~~~

Little girl woke up on Friday, ready to shop...around the house, that is.  She was pushing her little shopping cart and collecting little "treasures" along the way.  What fun she had!

After our morning together, we went to pick Nana up and head to lunch at El Fenix.  How can you NOT on El Fenix Friday??  LOL  After lunch, Nana took us to see Frozen at Tinseltown in Grapevine.  Rossleigh watched a lot of it, but was needing a nap, so there was some squirming involved too.  All in all, she did great considering the length of the movie and the fact that it was only her second one.  These pictures were taken after the movie.  She was so fascinated by her "twin" in the mirror. Ha ha.  She even gave her kisses.

After all that, we headed back to our casa to join Lance, hang out, play some Canasta, and have some dinner.  It turns out that Rossleigh is a real card shark.  Hahaha.

Weekend Happenings

Long time, no blog!!  The Deweys are back and will try to make a more conscious effort to blog more regularly.  It's been a long time and there is LOTS to catch up on. While I will mostly post current things that are going on, I will certainly post some "catch-up" stuff here and there too (i.e. pics and videos).  Rossleigh had a busy and exciting weekend.

One fairly new thing in our lives is that Rossleigh now attends an in-home daycare.  The kiddos are so cute and I love that she gets to be around other kiddos on a regular basis.  This Friday was her first Valentine exchange and it was so much fun.  I love corny stuff and kids Valentines are the PERFECT place for cornball sayings, so this was the Valentine Rossleigh gave.  LOL

After she and I got home from day care, we went for a walk run.  It was such a GORGEOUS day!  Rossleigh is a VERY determined and active little girl and knows exactly where she wants to go and when.   Boy, does she keep me on my toes.  lol  She was running all over the place!  We had a lot of fun though.  The first pic is of her in action - RUNNING.  The second was a 10-second break that she took that I was actually able to capture.

On Saturday, Rossleigh went over to Gigi and Pops' house to spend the day with "the village" (Gigi, Meems, Uncle Randy, and Aunt Carol) while Lance went with his dad to a car show.  She always has so much fun with her Gigi.  This is a picture of her sitting on a chair that once belonged to her daddy.  Such a big girl

On Sunday, Lance and Rossleigh met some friends for breakfast that we hadn't seen in a while (I was working).  After I came home from work, we drove over to Irving for my sister's birthday party.  She got to spend time with her Nana, Aunt Marcy, Uncle David, and her three cousins.  After the festivities, Rossleigh played in the backyard with Jakey and Megan.  She kicked a ball for the first time and actually managed to hit a ball with a bat on the T-ball thing.

Haha.  I had to include this one.  It makes me laugh.  LOL

Bedtime snuggles with Mama.  I love this sweet girl so much.

That was our weekend! Next weekend, she'll be spending some time with her Ciocia.

Pretty soon, I'll post birthday pics, Halloween, and Christmas.  LOTS to show....and oh, God, the videos.  I have LOTS of material stored up for you people still out there, reading this.  LOL

Bath Trouble

A month or so ago, we moved the baby tub from the kitchen sink to inside a regular tub, but now our big girl is STANDING UP in the tub.   There's a little place on the baby tub that she can grab a hold of and pull herself up (see in picture)  Yikes!   I think it may be time to get out of the baby tub!  LOL

A Mover and a Shaker!

Rossleigh is ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!  This child went from sitting one week to crawling the next!!  There was no gradual scooting period or anything.  On top of it, while she knew HOW to, she never even rolled over much either.  Big time culture shock for all of us!  LOL

See the video below for her in action.  She starts out playing with some fabric scraps then decides she wants something on the OTHER side of Bean.  No matter!  She just crawls over him!!  LOL

P.S. - notice how stoic Bean is in the beginning of the video.  Statue!!  :)

Big day for big girl stuff

Today was a big day for Miss Rossleigh.   In one day, she stood with no (human) assistance AND sat all by herself!
I've been a little worried that I haven't been doing something right because everything I've read says that most babies are sitting unassisted by 6 months.   Rossleigh always ends up listing to one side if you let go of her while sitting.   A friend of mine suggested today that we try the "tripod" position (spread the legs and prop her weight on her arms in the center).  Oh my gosh!  It works so great!   Thanks Zee!
I still can't believe my baby girl is getting so BIG... TOO big too fast!

Can I help you?

She's so busy playing and learning, she barely has time for taking pictures...

Look who can hold her head up!

I can't believe how big our little girl is getting!!  Since she HATES tummy time (seriously, she cries through it), the only way we're able to motivate her to get some tummy time is to lay her on her stomach on top of one of us.  I did this today and this was the result.  While I couldn't really capture it well on film, she was SO proud of herself!!  LOL
