Pipe Cleaners & Pony Beads

A couple of months ago - when she was 18 months old - I introduced pipe cleaner and pony beads to Rossleigh (supervised, of course), but it was a little advanced for her.  She tried, bless her little heart, but she just couldn't string the bead onto the pipe cleaner.

She's been much more inquisitive lately and has really been using her pincer grasp skills.   I thought it might be time to reintroduce the beads and pipe cleaners.  I was actually a little surprised that she could do it!!  LOL  By the way, I found the idea here through Pinterest.

For those who REALLY know my child, they might be surprised to know that this activity captured her attention for TWENTY minutes!!!!  Yes, 20 minutes!  She was fascinated and silent!!  lol

Thennnnnn, in an instant, she was more interested in dumping the beads out and flinging them EVERYWHERE.  hahahaha.  We both cleaned them up only to have her do it again, but she picked them up herself the second time.  ;)  Hey, it's working those fine motor skills for her to clean them up, right??

This is what the finished product looked like.  After she strung a few on the white pipe cleaner, we turned it into a bracelet!  :)

P.S. - We've played with this again since and I learned to just give her a handful of beads instead of the WHOLE container.  It worked much better!!  Live and learn, Mama!!

Long Weekend

Goodness, I've gotten behind in my blogging!!  Working to get caught up.

Life has been a little crazy in the Dewey household lately.  I'm working getting over bronchitis and some other crud and was down and out for about a week.  This little one keeps me on my toes and ready to take on the world!  :)

Nana gave Rossleigh a castle tent a few weeks ago and Rossleigh and I had some MAJOR fun (and giggles) in it yesterday.

 Rossleigh LOVES her jewelry - it goes on the hands AND the feet.  Ha ha!!  The last couple of times we've been to McDonald's, we've been given these Spider-Man bracelets in her happy meal.  What outfit isn't complete without some Spider-Man bracelets??  :)

Look at how long her hair is getting!!

Happy Memorial Day!!  We spent the afternoon outside in the backyard.  We cooked out, played in the pool and slid on the slide.  This little girl just LOVES it outside!!!

P.S. - Rossleigh is 20 months today!!!  :)

Nnnnnnneh!

Rossleigh started saying "no" a couple of weeks ago and has now perfected it's use.  LOL  She, like most toddlers, says it quite often and even when she means to say "yes".  The funny thing about it is the WAY she says "no".  If you've ever watched Duck Dynasty, you know that Phil, Si and Jase all say "no" like "nnnnneh".  From the very first time she started saying "no", that's EXACTLY how she says it.  It cracks me up.

P.S. - Her Daddy put her hair into pigtails.  I thought he did a really good job (especially for his first time and on a VERY wiggly toddler).

More phone time

Little bit will make ANYTHING a phone.  Hahaha.  Just thought I'd share this quick video of Rossleigh

Spring Break Shenanigans

I had to work for the majority of Spring Break, but took off Thursday-Sunday so I could be with my sweet fam.  We originally planned a trip to Amarillo that ended up being cancelled, then planned a day trip to Round Rock that we cancelled, so it's been a relatively quiet Spring Break for the Deweys - compared to previous Spring Breaks anyway.  Regardless of cancelled travel plans, time spent with Rossleigh is FAR from uneventful!  Ha ha!!
~~~
This little stinker figured out how to climb up on the couch.  She'd grunt and climb until she was able to get up - and Heaven forbid if you try to help her.  She has to do it all by herself, you know.  Well, if SHE reaches out for your hand to help, it's okay, but if I reach out first, you can fuhgetaboutit.  LOL  It was pretty funny seeing how proud she was of herself.
I've finally learned the trick to doing Rossleigh's hair - always have snacks on hand! Lately, the snacks have been some animal crackers that Nana gave us.  I tried a new 'do for Rossleigh on Thursday.  My mom used to do my hair like this and I always loved it.  I wasn't sure if R's hair was long enough to do it, and while it needs to be a little longer to STAY this way, it stayed long enough to take this pic and for about 5 minutes of wrestling with Bean.  LOL
~~~

Little girl woke up on Friday, ready to shop...around the house, that is.  She was pushing her little shopping cart and collecting little "treasures" along the way.  What fun she had!

After our morning together, we went to pick Nana up and head to lunch at El Fenix.  How can you NOT on El Fenix Friday??  LOL  After lunch, Nana took us to see Frozen at Tinseltown in Grapevine.  Rossleigh watched a lot of it, but was needing a nap, so there was some squirming involved too.  All in all, she did great considering the length of the movie and the fact that it was only her second one.  These pictures were taken after the movie.  She was so fascinated by her "twin" in the mirror. Ha ha.  She even gave her kisses.

After all that, we headed back to our casa to join Lance, hang out, play some Canasta, and have some dinner.  It turns out that Rossleigh is a real card shark.  Hahaha.

Polka-Dot Ghost

We need some serious help in the Dewey household.  You seeeeee, we have a ghost...and not just any old ghost either.  This ghost is a polka-dotted ghost!  Don't believe me?  See for yourself!  ;)

I caught the "ghost" in action...Have you ever heard a ghost giggle before??

I thought Rossleigh made a pretty cute ghost.  LOL  I hope you enjoyed.  :)

These were from earlier this morning.  Currently, this mama is enjoying a QUIET, husband-free and baby-free house tonight.  Lance is out with a friend at Texas Motor Speedway and Rossleigh is spending the night at Nana's house.  Check out the photos of my little climber that Nana sent me.  LOL  I swear that child will find ANYTHING that will allow her to climb and will push it or carry it to wherever it is that she wants to climb onto.  Here are some shots that my mom sent to me of her climbing.  ha ha

I'm REALLY looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning.  Thanks, Nana!!!

It's Teething Time Again

Yup...My poor little baby.  :(  She's got all the tell-tale signs:  she has a fever, runny/stuffy nose, diaper rash, and she's a little clingy.  She's just recently had two of her bottom molars on both sides come in and now, well, she won't let me close enough to her mouth to see what's trying to come in.  LOL

More pics and videos coming soon. :)

NOT a winter baby

A few weeks ago when we had some REALLY cold winter days, I put Rossleigh's hat and mittens on to try to better protect her on her way out the door.  She was NOT happy about it - AT ALL...not even one tiny bit.  The hat, she was really OKAY with, but the mittens??  Fuh-get about it.  She found out really quickly that she couldn't hold her bottle or cup with them on.  I'd hand it to her and before she could get it up to her mouth, it would slide right down to her lap.  hahaha  It really was tragic...can't you tell??  :)

Throwback Thursday - Christmas 2012

I came across these in my drafts folder.  Never got around to posting them for some reason and in the spirit of Throwback Thursday, I now have the perfect opportunity.  LOL  Enjoy...

RCD vs. Beanie

This was from a couple of weeks or so ago...These two crack me up!  Bean is so good with her and pretty much lets her get away with murder.  LOL  Check out the video below of her playing tugging of war with him.  I love her "just lay on him" technique.  Ha ha ha

She cracks me up how she grunts!

Weekend Fun

Rossleigh got to have ALL kinds of fun this weekend.  She had a sleepover at Ciocia's house (AKA Agnieszka, one of her Godmothers).  They played, bonded, went to the park, and shopped all while Lance and I got a night off from parenting.  LOL She was so sweet and sent me some pictures she took while they were having fun.

Lance and I had a relaxing night off.  When we came home from work, we decided to take a NAP!!  When we were awoken by the phone ringing at about 8:30 pm, we got ourselves together and headed out for a LATE dinner at Mellow Mushroom. Afterwards, we headed home, caught up on some of the shows we watch together, and pretty much just lounged around until 3am.  LOL  I tossed and turned all night due to some back pain (I've been having some trouble with my ankle lately, so I've been compensating by walking a little differently.  As a result, I'm also now having pain in my hips, back, and shoulders.  Mobility issues really suck sometimes...Oh well.  At least I'm walking!).          Lance, on the other hand slept like a DREAM.  I really am happy for him that he was able to get a good chunk of sleep, but he slept a little TOO good.  Let me tell ya, that boy can SNORE!!!  It's normally not an issue, but when you're already struggling to go to sleep, the um, "noise" coming from your bed neighbor makes it a little difficult.  You ladies know what I'm talking about.  I was laying in bed awake for a couple of hours and doing things like clearing my throat, rib poking, light kicks or touches all in attempt to stop the snoring for a bit so I could fall asleep. I finally decided to give him a break and just get up.  LOL  We did more lounging the next day and then met up with Agnieszka and Rossleigh at Carter's in Southlake.  Baby girl needed some new shoes (that's another post for another day)!

~~~~~~~~
On Sunday, we had a birthday party to go to for my little man, Jakey.  I can't believe he's already 3!
<-----Uncle Lance playing with Jake and the punch balloon.  I think he got it right in the kisser!
----->
 Jakey wouldn't let me take his picture.  Much like his mother, he kept putting stuff in front of his face.  LOL
<-----Birthday boy was ready for some cake.  Nana HATED doing this cake but I think she did a FANTASTIC job on it.
----->
Rossleigh loved the balloons and all of the action that came along with them.  A little blurry but she was on the move!
More Pumpkin Patch
She was fascinated by the goards.  She stayed busy "organizing" and rearranging them.  LOL
NO IDEA why she decided to lick this pumpkin stem, but I'm SO happy Agnieszka caught it on film.  Sometimes, I guess you just get an urge to lick a pumpkin...
This pic is one of my faves.  I love the way the sun shines on her.  Gorgeous
I had to end this post with my silly monkey.  I'm always laughing at her...or shaking my head at her.
Videos are the best way to capture her personality.  I'll post some soon...Hope these bettered your day a bit.
Little Punkin'
As promised, I'm starting the "catch-up" process with pictures and videos.  Here are a few from the Pumpkin Patch in October 2013.  Agnieszka found this church in Grapevine that set up a pumpkin patch with adorable backdrops.  The volunteers running the pumpkin patch were so sweet and let us move around whatever pumpkins and props we wanted.  Agnieszka really took some BEAUTIFUL shots and I'm so happy with the way they turned out.
For as happy as my little one is, for some reason, she's not so smiley during photo shoots.  Miss Serious all the way.  Every now and then, she would smile, but I think they all turned out cute, nonetheless.  LOL
You can see into her soul through these beautiful eyes.
ZOOM IN.
So proud.  "Look at my pumpkin"
This, folks, is what we call "the Wilson mouth".  Some of the facial expressions she makes remind me so much of my dad.
There are several other shots from this shoot that I'll post soon.  Have a wonderful day.  I get to go renew my Driver's License  - that's been expired for a year and a half....I know, I know....
